Email jerryitall@icloud.com for help with Minnow Network Monitor.

Please include your Minnow version, macOS version, whether you are using Wi-Fi, Ethernet, or a VPN, and a short description of the problem. A screenshot can help. Remove private information before sending it; passwords and full network logs are not needed.

What does Minnow measure?

The app shows current upload and download rates reported by your Mac's network interfaces. This includes internet traffic and transfers on your local network. It is not a test of your internet plan's maximum speed.

Why are speeds zero?

There may be no traffic on the selected connection. Choose All connections, check that your network connection is working, then start an ordinary download or file transfer. Allow a couple of seconds for readings to appear. An interface that just connected needs two samples before the app can calculate a rate.

What is the difference between bytes and bits?

One byte equals eight bits. Internet plans often use megabits per second (Mbps), while file transfers often use megabytes per second (MB/s). Use the Bytes/s or Bits/s switch to choose your display. Units use decimal prefixes.

What does All connections include?

It combines traffic on active physical adapters. Virtual interfaces are excluded from that total to help avoid counting VPN traffic twice. Choose an individual connection to see its own readings.

Where is my VPN?

Connect your VPN, wait a few seconds, then reopen the connection menu. Detected active VPN interfaces appear near Wi-Fi and connected Ethernet. Some interfaces are available under Other adapters. Detection depends on the information macOS and your VPN expose; an interface may appear by a system name such as utun19.

Minnow does not provide, enable, or disable a VPN connection.

Why did my totals reset?

Totals cover the current selection's session, not a monthly or lifetime total. Switching connections or quitting the app resets them. Long gaps after sleep are excluded from the rate calculations.

Does the app send my network activity anywhere?

Minnow processes network readings on your Mac and does not send them to us. It has no ads or third-party analytics SDKs. Apple separately provides TestFlight diagnostics and feedback for beta builds, and may provide App Store diagnostics according to your settings. See the Privacy Policy for details, including information you voluntarily send to support.
