Minnow Privacy Policy

This policy describes Minnow Network Monitor, developed by Jerry Schulze, and support for the app.

Network information stays on your Mac

Minnow reads network-interface information supplied by macOS to display upload and download speeds, recent activity, and session totals. This includes interface names, connection status, byte counters, and local address and routing information used to identify connections, including existing VPN interfaces.

The app processes this information locally. It does not send network readings or interface information to the publisher or an advertising or analytics service. It does not inspect packet contents, record the websites you visit, or read the contents of files you transfer.

Local storage

The app stores your choice of bytes or bits per second in its local preferences. Recent speed samples and session totals are held in memory and are not saved as a historical database. They are cleared when the app quits; changing the selected connection also resets that view's history and totals.

Minnow does not create an online account or maintain a server-side network-activity record. You can change the display preference in the app. Quitting Minnow clears its in-memory session data. Local preferences may remain in macOS app storage after removing the app; contact us if you need help removing them.

Advertising and analytics

The current app contains no advertising, cross-app tracking, or third-party analytics SDKs. The app does not sell or share your network information.

If you contact support

If you choose to email us, we receive your email address, message, and any attachments you include. We use that information to respond and resolve your request. Do not send passwords, private keys, full network logs, or other sensitive information that is not needed to explain the problem.

Support email is handled through Apple iCloud Mail, which processes messages to provide the email service. We keep support correspondence only as long as needed to resolve requests and meet legal obligations. You may request deletion by emailing jerryitall@icloud.com; we will delete correspondence we control unless retention is required by law.

To request deletion of support correspondence, contact jerryitall@icloud.com. We do not have access to the app's local network readings and cannot retrieve them from your Mac.

Apple services and this website

Apple operates the App Store and TestFlight separately from Minnow’s local monitoring features. When you use a TestFlight beta, Apple collects crash logs and usage data and makes beta testing information available to us. If you submit feedback, we may receive your comments, screenshots, device and OS information, and contact details provided through TestFlight. We use this information to diagnose problems and improve Minnow. See Apple’s TestFlight privacy notice.

For App Store releases, Apple may provide diagnostics and usage information according to your Apple sharing settings. This does not give us access to the network readings displayed in Minnow. See Apple’s Privacy Policy.

The Minnow support and privacy pages are hosted on jerryitall.com through Squarespace. Visiting the website is separate from using the app. Squarespace may process technical information such as your IP address, browser and device details, and pages visited to serve, secure, and analyze website traffic. Cookies may be used according to site settings and your choices. Squarespace manages its service records under its own retention practices; see the Squarespace Privacy Policy for details. These website services do not receive Minnow’s local network readings.

Policy updates

This policy will be updated if the app's data practices change. The effective date above will identify the current version.
